Can you feel what I feel? Is it possible to truly translate the internal syntax of my soul into a verbage that rings clearly and deeply in yours? Or are we just stuck inside our heads, riding along, only lonely drivers getting by with just a honk and a wave, a finger, a fist, an angry glare as these heavy hulks move around with us at uncautious speeds? Death is close and only fools are fearless at full speed.

On daily commutes in Seattle, one only has to look through the panes of shatter-proof glass between your car and mine to note that the vast majority of us are alone in our cars just driving from here to there. The basic unit of human existence is one. The best we hope for is a lonely journey without too much traffic or detouring.

Or is it? These Letters From Traffic are about a deeper sharing of the experience human beings being human. Have you given up on getting close? What letters are you not sending for fear your message just won't get through to the other people on the road?

Letters From Traffic is about not giving up. Letters From Traffic is about getting the word out. Where are you going? Where are you coming from? Get real. Get authentic about your existence. Write your letters and send them. That's what we're doing and it feels like the one of the most important and beautiful tasks we've ever committed ourselves to.
